federal-work-studyThe Federal Work Study program is a United States federally funded program that helps students with the costs of university education. The Federal Work Study Program assists students with financial need to earn money for your school expenses through a part-time work employment. The federal government pays from 50% to 100% of an eligible student’s wages, hereby making it easier for an employer to hire a student or a student to find the right job. One of the goals of the FWSP is to offer career-developing, well-paid employment opportunities. Student’s job is considered to be of secondary importance, studying is paramount, that’s why Work Study employment may not exceed a maximum of 15 hours a week. 
Earned funds may be used for studying in one of almost 3,400 institutions across the country that take part in the program.

This program encourages students to work in their field of study. Participants can work on- or off-campus.
You can become eligible for work-study employment by filling in a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For getting a chance to qualify for the program you should:
     - be a half-time or full-time student;
     - be U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen;
     - show sufficient financial need;
     - find a suitable work-study job, or ask school to find one for you;
     - apply before the deadline;
     - maintain a minimum GPA.

Employment opportunities vary widely depending on your school and the larger community. Off-campus employers usually are private non-profit organizations where you will serve the public interests or for-profit employers where you will get an employment according to your field of study. The work on-campus includes work in academic or administrative offices. Your school’s office of student financial aid will promote offer you both on-and off-campus job vacancies. Usually there are university searchable databases with lists according to experience, skills, salary.

Undergraduate students are paid hourly or by salary in accordance to their job. Money will not be paid before the student earns them.
