Scholarships for Volunteering Service

scholarships_for_volunteering_serviceSome students can be involved in volunteering and community service and get awards available at the location where they carry out their community service. Hospitals and nursing homes, mosques and synagogues, veterans groups, churches, historical societies, fraternal organizations and other community service organizations usually award scholarships to recognize prominent community service by young volunteers.

The Federal Work Study program offers a community service component. Schools have to use 7% of their Federal Work Study program funds to pay for students who are involved in community service. In addition, schools can ask supplemental funding for community service jobs. If Federal Work Study job is open for you, the school will be pleased to have you in a community service job. You can work as a reading tutor for children or perform family literacy activities.
